Nasus Legend ability

When you play a unit, equipment, or activated ability that costs 7 or more Energy, you can deplete it to prepare up to 2 runes.

Letter text: When you play a unit, gear, or activated ability with Energy cost [7] or more, you may exhaust me to ready up to 2 runes.

Your legend is in play from the first turn and cannot be removed, so this ability is the foundation on which the entire deck is built.

How to play Nasus

A card with a cost of 7 becomes a cost of 5 in practice, and those two runes are used to respond on the opponent's turn. Nasus, Guardian of Knowledge channels a rune when an enemy on its field dies, Nasus, Ascended adds a point on conquer if empowered, and Siphoning Strike deals 7 damage with seven runes.

  • Mind

A Nasus deck can only include cards from Calm and Mind; its 12 Runes are split between those two Domains.

Phased game plan

  1. First shifts

Defend and accelerate runes. Siphoning Strike removes the first threat.

  2. Midrange

Reach seven runes with Nasus, Guardian of Knowledge defending a field.

  3. End of game

One huge card per turn, with two runes back to protect it.
