New to Magic? Affordable decks to start playing

If you are starting to play Magic: The Gathering with your group, a preconstructed Commander deck is the simplest option: you get a legal 100-card list with its commander, a clear game plan and extra basic lands, without picking singles or working out what is missing.

Our specialised Commander decks are rated Bracket 2 — Core, the social Commander level for balanced games. If you want to learn the rules first, read our guide to getting started with Magic or discover how to play Commander.

What Are Commander Brackets?

The Commander bracket system classifies decks by power level so games are balanced and fun for everyone. Before starting a game, players discuss their decks’ brackets to ensure a fair table.

Bracket 1 — Exhibition: highly thematic decks where winning is not the main aim. Bracket 2 — Core: social Commander with clear plans and restrained power. Bracket 3 — Upgraded: upgraded, consistent lists with strong interaction. Bracket 4 — Optimized: fast, efficient, high-power decks. Bracket 5 — cEDH: lists built for a competitive environment and its metagame.

Our current prebuilt decks are classified as Bracket 2 — Core. The bracket describes the play experience, not the deck’s price. For a different level, try our custom Commander service.
