Ambessa Legend ability

When you boost another card, Ambessa is also boosted. You can spend that boost, 1 Power, and exhaust it to prepare a unit.

Letter text: When you empower something else, empower me. Disempower me, [Power], [Exhaust]: Ready a unit.

Your legend is in play from the first turn and cannot be removed, so this ability is the foundation on which the entire deck is built.

How to play Ambessa

The deck revolves around the boost mechanic: every time you boost a unit, the legend charges and lets you prepare another to attack again. Ambessa, Respected and Feared kills when attacking a smaller unit, and Public Execution does the same from hand. Body puts the size and Order the answers.

Domains: Body and Order

  • Body

Big units and more resources: win on size on the board.

  • Order

Wide boards, clean answers and units that strengthen each other.

A Ambessa deck can only include cards from Body and Order; its 12 Runes are split between those two Domains.

Phased game plan

  1. First shifts

Develop medium cost units and reserve resources for the first boost.

  2. Midrange

Boost your best unit, attack, and use the legend to prepare it to attack the second field.

  3. End of game

With two powered units you dominate the combats. Public Execution clears the last defender.
